Both X1 and X2 are study visas, what's the difference? Which one should you apply for?

1. Different length of stay

X1:

 X1 visa can stay for more than 6 months ,suitable for undergraduate and graduate students studying in China for a long time. 

X2: 

X2 visa can stay up to 6 months, suitable for students studying in Chinese universities or language schools for a short period of time.

2. Different entry times

X1: multiple entries.

X2: single entry.

3. Different invitation schools

X1: 

Invitations are issued by universities.

X2:

In addition to universities, language schools can also send invitation letters for application.

4. Different procedures

X1:

Physical examination is required, and residence permit are required after entry.

X2:

No physical examination is required and no residence permit is required.

5.  Difference of X2 visa between universities and language schools

Universities: 

There is a fixed application time, around 3 months before fall or spring enrollment. Applications are not accepted at other times.

Language schools : 

There is no fixed application time, you can apply at any time.

Notes：

Both visas need to  register residence at the local police station within 24 hours after arrival，and the good news is that registration is now online available.
